Pakistan is faced with problems that require superhuman effort and sacrifices on part of its citizens to come out of the gloom. Some other nations such as US, Japan and Europe also faced similar problems at critical junctures of their history but they were able to rise up to the challenges and overcome their difficulties.
National Cohesion Required
These nations though had some advantages over Pakistan. They had national cohesion and proper sense of appropriation. Pakistan, whereas, seems to be a nation that harbours extremities.Pakistanis topple the scale to either ends.
They have among them either devils or angels. Normal human beings though they dont have. The Sialkoat incident and other similar incidents have shown that at times if there be a chance they are the judge, the jury and the executioners.
This is the state of highest immaturity as regard a nations advancement towards stability and prosperity. Pakistanis need to grab the moment, take stock of their challenges, chalk out a plan of action and start their journey.
In the Quran God Almighty says, Allah does not change a peoples lot unless they change what is in their hearts. 13:11 Their challenges are for them to meet and thereby build upon their potentialities. On no soul doth Allah place a burden greater than it can bear. 2:286
Trials and Tribulations Help
What do they need to face up to the challenges? They need unity among them and a leadership that can shoulder this responsibility. Their leadership has emerged from them. They have no military usurpers at the helms of affairs in Pakistan now. All provinces as well as the Centre have political governments.
Political leaders may be inept, lazy and incompetent but to say it will remain so despite acute criticism in Pakistan and abroad will be too judgmental. Whatever modicum help other political parties can extend to the government, to shoulder the current challenges facing the country, will be a step to the right direction.
Political Culture of Pakistan
Though it is quite in line with the political culture of Pakistan and political parties tendencies to self destruct themselves, its in no way helpful for them to have a single point political agenda all the times. The change of government is no remedy; change of national psyche is though.
Political parties and their leadership is the product of the self-same nation they belong to. Their leaders are the products of their time and society. Opinion leaders and leaders of social circles should first blame themselves before they are to point fingers at political leaders.
Pakistans Political Actors
Some of the TV anchors in Pakistan, more infamously called political actors, must also assimilate the responsibility that comes with their new-found freedom of expression. They should be prepared to show both faces of the coin. Their job is to play the role of an impersonal referee and let the nation decide and issue verdicts on political matters.
People may not agree with famous TV anchor persons like Dr Shahid Masood, Hamir Mir, Kashif Abbasi, Kamran Khan, and journalists like Ansar Abbasi, Salim Bokhari, Salah Zafa etc. all the time, but then they need to understand that these journalists too like politicians are human beings and with the passage of time will enlighten themselves enough and improve upon their journalistic responsibilities. The first sign of change, of course, will be their attempts at reigning in their knack for Zardari bashing.
